Furlough: Although we haven't traveled extensively the last two months, it isn't because we
haven't been in meetings. Fall seems to be the popular missions conference time, which has
resulted in us attending 5 conferences in Texas and Tennessee. As great as all the meetings have
been, our family all agree that our home church conference was the greatest. We enjoyed hearing
Missionary Rick Martin, Pastor Joe Cammilleri, Pastor Danny Farley, Evangelist Joe West,
Evangelist Stinnett Ballew, plus a host of other missionaries. The five conferences that we were a
part of in these last months committed a total of $1,650,000 to missions. Our home church alone
committed $456,000. What an investment into souls for all of eternity!
New Support: We have had two churches add us to their missions family: Bible Baptist Church
in Hendersonville, Tennessee and Bible Believers Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. Our
thanks to these churches for their great missions emphasis and for allowing us to represent them
on the field of Uganda.
Radio Equipment: We have been asking you for quite some time to pray about our need of
new radio equipment for the radio station. I am so pleased to let you know that God has supplied
the complete amount needed! Many churches and individuals have come through with gifts for
this project. To God be the glory!! Pray that this equipment will arrive in Uganda safely with no
additional fees and that it will be installed with no difficulties. Gene Sharp and Eric Damron from
Independent Baptist Media will be coming in April of 2012 to help us with this project.
New Luganda Tracts: As I look for additional materials to use in ministering in Uganda, I came
across the Chick Tract "This Was Your Life" translated into Luganda, the language of the tribe we
work with. Because this tract is not kept in circulation, a minimum of 10,000 tracts has to be
ordered at one time. Although the cost of $920 seemed a little daunting, I really felt God would
have us purchase these. Two days after this discovery, a lady walked up to me and handed me
$1,000 in cash to use in the ministry! Isn't God so good!!
Solar Radios: Radios play an important part in news, communication and entertainment with the
Ugandan people. This is why our Christian radio station is so effective in getting the Gospel out to
the many villages. Recently, three individuals have approached us with a desire to purchase solar,
fixed-frequency radios for the Ugandans. These radios are locked on our FM frequency and cost
about $20 each. If you would like to have a part in this, please let me know.
Uganda: We enjoy hearing the good reports from Uganda of how God is blessing the ministries
there. However, we also hear of how the devil is fighting, so we know he is not happy with what
is being accomplished. Please pray for our national leadership, as well as the missionaries
working in Masaka district. I have been collecting ideas throughout furlough and am looking
forward to implementing some of these when we return.
Other Prayer Requests: Please pray for Grace Orphanage as we relocate to another village in
January of 2012. This move will give us plenty of space for expansion of the ministry. Pray for
Missionaries Ron Reece and Jim Telman as they raise their support and join our team next year.
If you can have them in your church for a meeting and help them with monthly support, your
investment will not be in vain. They are going to be a great asset to the ministry there. You can
find their information under "Links" on our website. Pray for us as we prepare to organize our
mobile Bible Institute in Uganda. This is going to be a tremendous tool in the training of our men
in the villages to serve God.
Finally: Thank you for your prayers for our safety. God is watching over us, and the van we are
using has been treating us well. Pray for us as we finish our last leg of furlough in the western
states. We will be in California for November and half of December, and then in Washington with
Sally's family for Christmas. Afterward, we will work our way back to Texas through Idaho,
Montana, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Please pray for our safety as these will be the winter months,
and the roads will be more dangerous than normal.
Thank you to all those churches who have made us feel so welcome while we have been on
furlough. If we have not been in your church yet, we hope and pray that we may be a blessing to
you when we come. May God richly bless you as we continue in His work together!!
